The American Dream

Earlier this year, I issued a press release about my company’s mission to bring back America’s shopping streets. Check it out either here or here.

This was not an ordinary release, and to be frank the PRNewswire folks were a bit mystified about how to run it. But I felt it was something that needed saying, not just because of what I am already doing with DHgate, but especially in light of some of the changes that are taking place around the world and in China generally.

More to come on this. Stay tuned.

Heal the World

There are people in this world who do and say things that bring the world closer together. Outside the controversy, Michael Jackson was one of those people.

Tearing down international barriers through pure talent and passion is something I deeply respect. The impact of his music will live on.

Starting From Now

There is a lot to love about being an entrepreneur. However, when I left Corporate America and started out on my own, I was surprised by the things that I started to miss. It wasn’t just the companionship and camaraderie of an office, but I also missed having people around with whom I could share my work frustrations – people who would understand and could give me advice.

In other words, the hardest part about being an entrepreneur was the feeling that I was all by myself.

Maybe some people thrive on that feeling, but not me—and not the overwhelming majority of DHgate buyers that I’ve talked to over the past few years either!

So I’ve decided we need to work together and fix that.

Beginning right now, we are going to start doing something to make life as an entrepreneur a little easier.

In this blog, we’re going to offer you opinions, news, ideas, and resources that other DHgate buyers and I find interesting, insightful, and helpful. And if there is any specific news to share about the goings-on around here, I’ll throw that in as well.

But this is not just about stuff I want to pass on to you. You are constantly seeing, reading, and hearing things that are interesting too, so if you come across anything that you think others will benefit from reading, send it to me and I’ll share it here on The Gateway. You can reach me at dianew@dhgate.com.

And, since we are all business people and I would never ask you to do anything without the hope of reward, each month, I’m giving away a $100 Amazon gift certificate to the person who comes up with my favorite contribution.

In the meantime, good luck, keep at it, and stay in touch!
